Hey y’all, it’s Luke. Just wanted to drop a quick programming note.
We are leaving Substack for a different publishing platform called Ghost. For everyone receiving this email, your RANGE life should look and feel almost exactly like it does now. You’ll still get content delivered directly into your inboxes. If you subscribe to the podcast it will still show up, as if by magic, directly in your podcast app of choice. You don’t need to sign up to a new list or subscribe again. We will handle all of the migration for you.
Especially if you like things the way they are and don’t want to have to do anything except receive that sweet, sweet content in exactly the way you have always received it, then allow us to invoke the words of our Commander-in-Chief, dear reader:
But hey! If you DO like new things, Ghost will unlock a whole host of features we’ve wanted to be able to offer but previously couldn’t. The platform will allow us to grow in ways we haven’t been able to until now, and it costs less too, so more of your membership money goes toward paying for reporting and not for the platform.
RANGE will gradually start to look and feel like more of a news website, not just a newsletter. Our podcasts will have their own space. You’ll be able to sort by topic and type of content. It’s going to be extremely cool.
Substack was a great place to begin, learn and grow, but it has limitations that have restricted what we can do with RANGE, and now that our team is a little bigger and still growing, the time to make the jump is now.
Also, a few of our readers expressed serious concerns about some of Substack’s partnership decisions. We took that criticism seriously. It’s one of the reasons we’re making this jump as early as possible.
Because of the transition, we will not be publishing this week. This is the last email you’ll get from the Substack platform. The next time you hear from us we will be on Ghost.
We want to thank you, as always, for supporting us at RANGE, and helping us take this from a pandemic hobby to a full-fledged newsroom serving every person who loves the Inland Northwest and who wants to make it a better, more just, and livable place for everyone.
See you on the other side,
Luke_
