I think it’s important to note that multiple members admitted that A) When the job was divided up (previously the health officer held both roles, but an administrative role was created to ease that workload) it was not clear who was in charge of what, which led to a power struggle, and B) Dr Lutz asked for mediation in June, was denied, and no employee action plan was ever created. Again and again they were both asked if they would be willing to work together to find a solution, and Clark refused, where Lutz said that’s what he wanted all along. He was accused of not being a team player, which is refuted by the outpouring of support, and it seems much more likely that Clark has no interest in being on a team with someone who sees themselves as her equal.

I work in a field that will be directly impacted by the health officer’s recommendations, and I have taken a lot of comfort in the fact that Dr Lutz was willing to be the bad guy and keep things closed. Turns out that same skill set is what got him fired. I’m very anxious what my job will look like moving forward.
